At The Economist we are transforming our data operations to support the growing needs of a
modern digital media business. As a result we have the opportunity for an experienced Data Architect to enhance our Data Platform capabilities. Reporting directly to the Head of Data Platform, you will be responsible for delivering a robust data architecture to support all our data activities, including business intelligence, insights, marketing activation and data science needs.
This opportunity is suited to someone who has proven experience delivering data platform architectures, including “big data” systems for managing large datasets such as web analytics. You should understand the data challenges of a modern digital business and the changing landscape of data technology, and be able to see how one provides solutions to the other.
How you will contribute:
The Data Platforms team is responsible for all aspects of data technology delivery, including traditional warehouse operations, cloud-based big data activities, data ingestion, and integrations with 3rd-party systems, data processing (ETL) and management of data quality. As the architect of this team, you will be responsible for defining data models, sourcing data feeds and delivering data to service the publisher team's data needs and ensuring the proposed solutions and designs are aligned to business requirements and data strategy.
