    The Economist Group’s global Content Solutions Unit creates engaging, thought-provoking content programmes for multinational Fortune 500 companies, foundations, and other organisations worldwide that are seeking to establish, deepen, or redefine their relationships with their target audiences.  This content ranges from in-depth, survey-based research reports to multimedia and interactive pieces like videos, infographics, digital slideshows, and benchmarking tools.  Depending on the client’s objectives and the nature of the research, these content pieces can carry the brand of either The Economist Intelligence Unit or of the client itself, and can be stand-alone deliverables or part of a larger integrated programme including events, media (advertising), and online content hubs. 

     

    Within the Content Solutions Unit, the Senior Content Programme Editor is the hub at the center of a content program wheel that includes conceptualising, executing, and evaluating bespoke client-branded programmes. 

    The Senior Content Programme Editor will also play a central role in helping to grow the Content Solutions business.  

     

    The role entails:

    • Helping to craft creative and memorable content programmes that address the client’s strategic objectives, in coordination with the Content Strategist and the Integrated Marketing team
    • Working closely with clients to understand their goals and key requirements, and incorporating their feedback into programmes
    • Project managing live programmes in a timely and high quality manner, constantly managing client expectations and satisfaction, as well as timelines, project budgets and contributor relationships
    • Finding and working with the appropriate external and internal partners to execute on content programmes
    • Evaluating the editorial and analytical quality of all content pieces produced, providing feedback to contributors and partners, and, if necessary, making adjustments to both written and visual content pieces

    Accountabilities

    How you will contribute: 

    • Spend time with potential clients and sales to understand client objectives and needs
    • Develop innovative content programmes that deliver on client objectives and create winning client proposals that outline and promote them  
    • Evaluate and select the most appropriate partners, contributors and vendors to help execute content programmes, including the development of contracts and statements of work with those partners, contributors and vendors
    • Work closely with partners, contributors and vendors to ensure the highest-quality execution of content programmes, including by editing or directing the editing of written, visual, and multimedia content pieces
    • Conduct tight project management with fantastic client communication and impeccable timeline delivery
    • Provide great client service with an eye to continuous client satisfaction

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    The ideal skills for this role are:

    • A bachelor’s degree required.  Relevant areas of study include but are not limited to economics, English, marketing and communications
    • A minimum of five years of previous work experience, in an editorial/content, and/or integrated marketing role
    • Strong editing skills
    • Multimedia experience
    • Outstanding client presence, experience dealing with senior executives
    • Experience managing multiple projects and priorities simultaneously, managing to deadlines
    • Experience managing outside contributors and vendors is a plus
    • Understanding of social media and other promotion and distribution strategies for content pieces
    • Fluency in written and spoken English essential; Asian languages a definite asset
    • Proficiency in Excel required
    • Proficiency in Word and PowerPoint expected
    • Strong desire to provide excellent client services, enjoyment from working with clients
    • Ability to move quickly up the learning curve on any topic from business- and industry-related issues to new technologies; intellectual curiosity
    • Exceptional project management skills
    • Great presentation and communication skills, with an emphasis on diplomacy, relationship-building and stakeholder management
    • Ease in uncertain environments, flexibility, openness to change
