    The Economist Corporate Network (ECN) is the briefing and networking service of the Economist Group. Through our members-only C-suite forums we help international firms understand the political, economic and business environments of the high-growth markets where they operate. We work with them to assess risks, opportunities, trends and issues of importance and how to respond to them.

     

    The service is delivered in many ways:

    • Through a programme of meetings that create the opportunity to hear from Economist Group experts, from invited outside experts, and from peers within the network;
    • Through private briefings delivered to clients at their management and strategy meetings;
    • Through summary reports and data (covering key economies and business issues).

    We are seeking a Sales Support and Operations specialist for its networks in Tokyo and Seoul. This is a junior but very important role in a small and dynamic team that would suit someone with between 2-5 years of professional experience. As the sole support person for the business in this region the role is a customer-facing admin position with a wide remit which requires strong English skills. 

     

     

    Accountabilities

    In the role you would be expected to:

     

    Provide Sales Support

    • Renewals: preparing and sending renewal letters
    • Chasing down signed renewals forms
    • Arrangement of client meetings for Sales/editorial directors
    • New sales and renewals: managing SF and compiling materials (signed contracts, approvals) to be sent to Finance
    • Assisting members with simple queries and keep members details up-to-date
    • Managing the respective customer service ECN email box
    • Liaising with The Economist magazine unit on all subscription matters
    • Handling invoices (coding, PeopleSoft etc.) from suppliers (hotels, couriers, speakers, …)
    • Sending welcome e-packs to new members
    • Updating meeting Cost Sheet on a monthly basis
    • Keeping calendars/meeting invites folders updated
    • Keeping the dashboard file updated
    • Compiling (and update every month) the respective city membership list

    Plan event 

    • Logistics / hotel arrangements & price negotiations
    • Preparing meeting invites
    • Sending out reminders/meeting notices to members
    • Registration details in SF.com
    • Assisting in preparing meeting materials prior to meetings (liaising with HK Mktg when necessary, RSF, papers, …)
    • Being present at the meetings and assisting with the room set-up and registration table manning
    • Updating attendance in SF.com after each meeting
    • Compiling evaluation results after each meetings


    Manage CN.COM website content 

    • Creating meeting details on the website. Uploading relevant meeting materials. Updating calendar files
    • Creating and amending user IDs and PWs for members, updating web user IDs on SF.com for new or lapsed clients
    • Assisting members who encounter difficulties in logging in
    • Uploading Data Tracker (weekly), Asia Alert (bi-weekly), Asia Country Briefing (monthly), Data Tool (weekly)
    • CN.com (and, app) related tasks

    Provide admin support 

    • Administrative support activities as directed by the sales director and network director

     
    Manage relationships wiith Japanese stakeholders

    • Outreach and verbal and written communication with Japanese stakeholders (ECN members, prospects, government offices, experts, speakers, etc) in Japanese language
    • Managing/maintaining contact information of Japanese stakeholders for outreach for outbound opportunity events

     

     

    Experience, skills and professional attributes

    To succeed in the role you must have:

    • University degree
    • 2 or more years in a sales support, event planning or customer support role
    • Good organization skills
    • Native Japanese language skills, and fluency in English
