This position has been created to support the expansion of our Salesforce capabilities while working on projects from requirement gathering to design and implementation. Responsibilities will include Salesforce configuration together with system maintenance and customization to support business requirements, recommending opportunities for on-going improvements as appropriate.

This role will also provide level 1 and 2 supports to respond to end user support cases when required. This is an exciting role which will allow the successful candidate to work as part of dynamic team and interact with stakeholders across different departments and levels.


In the role you will be expected to:

  • Proactively interact with stakeholders to understand Salesforce requirements and subsequently translate them into technical specification
  • Chair information gathering workshops, conducting one to one interviews and producing documents to allow data capture
  • Manage delivery of functional and technical solutions and system integrations including testing strategy and execution
  • Ensure technical solution proposed meet Salesforce coding best practice and code coverage to be at 90%+
  • Manage existing and building new integration between Salesforce and other applications.
  • Perform and execute all functional testing. Developing use cases, test scripts, and translate these for usage in automated regression testing.
  • Work with business colleagues to gain user acceptance and take up.
  • Create custom build reports for trend analysis using standard reports functionality as well as reporting snapshot and historical trending
  • Develop a continuous Salesforce training program to ensure users are always up-to-speed with new features.
  • Deliver Salesforce training sessions to both new and existing users.
  • Create and keep Salesforce related technical documents and training materials up-to-date.
  • Keep up-to-date with new Salesforce releases and promptly identifies: 1.Features which could add value to the Economist Salesforce users 2. Features which will impact existing processes and require urgent attention.
  • Ensure the Salesforce data storage is within limit - implement continuous review and corrective action.

  • Perform administrative tasks such as setting up users, managing the security settings, creating or updating fields, page layouts, process builder and workflows, reports and dashboard and managing data using data loader or other tools.

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in this role you must have: 

  • A relevant bachelor’s degree or equivalent; and
  • Certifications in Development and Administration.
  • In depth and progressive Salesforce experience (from administrator to developer) gained in a similar role
  • Service or Sales Cloud
  • Used middleware such as Informatica, MuleSoft or Scribe to integrate with other applications.
  • Used custom controllers or Salesforce Canvas to integrate with external web service tool
  • Customised to drive sales efficiency
  • Analysed and designed through to successful implementation of, including experience with developer toolkit including Apex Classes, Controllers, and Triggers, Visualforce, IDE, Migration Tool, Web Services
  • Managed code coverage within the governance limit
  • Designed complex SOQL and SOSL queries
  • Delivered training to users at all levels in terms of organisational structure and experience using Salesforce
  • Business analysis with a solid understanding of business processes
  • Mapped business processes to the technical solution and undertaking impact analysis
  • A proven track record of successful project delivery with at least two full project lifecycles completed
  • Provided applications users with technical and functional support

To succeed in the role you must demonstrate:

  • A good understanding of data structures, data modelling, DB schema
  • Exposure to Agile development methodologies
  • Knowledge of Java and Javascript
  • Excellent team working with both clients and colleagues
  • Strong stakeholder management and a demonstrable desire to be the voice of users in communicating with Management
