As the research and analysis division of the Economist Group, The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) helps leaders prepare for opportunity, empowering them to act with confidence when making strategic decisions. The EIU is the global standard in providing quality, actionable intelligence to the public and private sector, assessing issues that impact the marketplace for over two hundred countries. The business has a large subscription client base, receiving economic, political and industry analysis through our websites, as well as a consulting business in which we are sometimes required to deliver bespoke content in digital formats (websites, apps etc) to clients. At EIU Digital, the technology function in the business, we have three kinds of work, namely strategic projects, changes requests and bug fixes, and operational activities – which deliver products to our subscribers, our online store users and our clients of custom content.

 

Strategic projects can be 3 – 9 months long, with interim releases and distinct testing phases; smaller changes and bug fixes are bundled into weekly or bi-weekly releases, with testing fitted in. These projects cover the front-end web or other delivery, as well as our backend supporting systems.

 

We are seeking a detail-oriented individual who is great at organisation and communication to work within the Digital Programme team, supporting the team by monitoring and reporting at the program level across project teams, analysing programme analytics, tool administration, programme communication and identifying opportunities to optimise the digital programme.

 

Located in our Gurgaon office, this person will act as an office lead for the Digital team members there and is also connected to a wider Global presence across London and New York. Some flexibility in terms of working across UK and US hours as well as travelling to our offices in London and New York may be required.

Accountabilities

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Support planning and coordination of the Digital programme of work, including programme monitoring, tracking and reporting, across the project teams
  • Identify connections across projects and highlight them early in the planning process
  • Assist in programme development including assessing and prioritising work
  • Develop and deliver weekly, monthly and quarterly reports on the programme and team time. Assist in defining and reporting on programme, project and team KPIs
  • Assist in budget tracking
  • Administer project management and time tracking tools, including adding and updating users, reviewing tool usage for quality and consistency, reporting, training the team
  • Have office oversight, coordinating the Digital team in Gurgaon and leading the team, especially with on boarding, morale issues
  • Schedule and organise meetings and maintain agenda
  • Develop processes, tools, templates as needed
  • Manage projects when needed
  • Participate in the Digital leadership of the Gurgaon office
  • Participate actively in the Project Management / Scrum Master / Delivery Manager practice, sharing and applying skills and knowledge, looking for opportunities for continuous improvement in our processes and tools
  • Participate in forward planning – prioritising, scheduling and resourcing
  • Maintain and share an up to date awareness of industry trends, new technology and exploring those that would benefit our business

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:

  • Bachelors in Business, Information or Computer Science or a related field
  • Project Management certification a plus
  • Proven work experience as a programme or project coordinator or project manager
  • Excellent spoken and written English skills
  • Excellent skills with MS Office (Word, Excel) and/or Google Docs
  • Good presentation skills
  • Experience with MS Project
  • Strong data analysis skills
  • Experience working on projects delivering web sites: Front-end, SEO, Accessibility / WCAG 2.0
  • Experience working on a content delivery site, delivering content products (as well as Marketing content), with a CMS, e.g. Episerver
