Signal Noise, an Economist Group business is a design studio for a data driven age. We began our journey with 3 founders in 2010, and we are now a team of 34 based in Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in Stratford East London. Our clients include UBS, Wired Magazine, The Economist, 
The Guardian, BCG, Open Systems, Formula One and Trading Screen to name a few.

We create data visulisations, tools and dashboards and our clients include Accenture, EE and Unilever.  Acquired by The Economist Group in October 2016. This partnership will enable us to step up the innovative and disruptive quality of the visual data storytelling we produce for our clients, and t create cutting edge content and tools for a data-driven age.


Currently we are seeking an experienced Project Manager / Producer who thrives off organising teams of designers and developers and delivering high quality design and digital products. 


You will be a confident communicator who enjoys getting into the details of a project and is passionate about delivering content and products that meet user and business goals. 


An interest in user experience and digital best practices and trends will help you in this role and you should feel comfortable talking through technical details internally and with clients.




In the role you would be expected to: 

  • Traffic manage the Product team
  • Work collaboratively with the Head of Product, Technical Director and Account Leads
    to support in the development of project plans, from brief to deliverable (project plan, objectives, key milestones, timelines and schedules)
  • Provide regular status reports and progress updates to project teams and Senior Management as appropriate
  • Seek input from the Head of Digital, Senior Traffic Manager and Account teams if required, to ensure satisfactory resolution of schedule conflict for all parties
  • Assist in maintaining KPIs and other metrics used to measure studio efficiency, productivity, quality, profitability etc
  • Manage the Product department schedule, ensuring all work is booked in and resourced, according to requests and briefs from the Head of Product
  • Serve as a Subject Matter Expert regarding project processes, capacity, timelines, etc
  • Implement communication and planning systems across the team to ensure accurate and timely communication of digital resourcing needs, including daily changes to requirements
  • Manage the delivery of projects from brief to launch across user experience, information design, animation and digital projects
  • Plan your team requirements, project timelines and budgets and ensure projects are delivered within this plan
  • Monitor and motivating the team assigned to the project
  • Ensure compliance with all internal account and project tracking procedures
    • Plan internal and freelance resource schedules
    • Provide general support and assistance to product team
    • Seek regular information and engagement from Account Management team to ensure resourcing needs are always up to date and addressed


Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:
  • Digital and design experience is a must – a minimum of 4/6 years’ experience
    in developing products and managing teams
  • Strong knowledge of managing digital deliverables (HTML5, JavaScript etc.)
  • A real passion for the digital world - you are always up-to-date on the latest developments. You are probably an early adopter of all tech and innovation and know much more than the average account handler
  • A confident clear communicator who enjoys working with multiple stakeholders with the strength of character to push back when necessary
  • Highly organised and strong multi-tasker
  • Demonstrated ability to manage heavy workloads, prioritise, work appropriately, and meet assigned deadlines; excellent organisational and analytical skills (including attention to detail). Very well organised, curious and collaborative (you understand the impact of your work on others
  • Strong understanding of effective Digital Design practices across various routes to market or mediums
  • Ability to make effective decisions in challenging situations and/or under pressure

  • A head for numbers and able to plan budgets and manage costs in Excel
  • Experience with;
    • JIRA, Asana or other PM/development tools
    • Creating project plans / Gantt charts (e.g. MS Office or a Mac equivalent would be advantageous)
    • Using agile design and development practices
    • Writing user stories and documenting functional requirements
    • QA process
  • Proficient computer skills (e.g. MS Office Suite, Adobe Suite)
