The Economist Media Businesses Division provides clients with marketing solutions, going beyond traditional advertising services to create integrated solutions involving advertising, sponsorship and content marketing services. Clients of the Media Businesses Division should receive clever, insightful ideas that solve their marketing problems, and which are delivered flawlessly from one world-class team.

 

The division is going through a period of transformation to its business model, processes and systems. A programme of change has been put in place which aims to harmonise and streamline processes in order to deliver operational efficiencies and improved management information and analysis. Projects include the migrating, merging and updating of our reporting, CRM and booking systems, the introduction of process management tools and others to be defined. We are looking for a Business Analyst, with a data analysis background, ideally in the publishing or media industries, who is able to support the programme through investigation, documentation and strategic insight.

Accountabilities

In this role you will be expected to:

  • Document requirements and existing processes (Data Flows, Reporting, Data Gaps, etc.)
  • Estimate timelines and project plans based on detailed investigation
  • Advise and building a strategy around system integration with a view to creating efficiency
  • Access and build the work with all levels of the business to gather requirements for development and process change, championing changes and new digital ideas and/or reporting improvements
  • Provide clear and concise written deliverables that will be the basis of system requirements and specifications, providing the input to the design and build phase
  • Work with stakeholders to identify and clearly define business problems, analyse business processes, user stories, identify solution options, validate and communicate the requirements using appropriate documentation and modelling techniques
  • Collect and validate the non-functional requirements, providing accurate data mapping specifications and transformation rules
  • Work with Economist suppliers to provide accurate sizing and cost estimates associated with the required solution
  • Support the developers and business users through all phases of testing
  • Deliver leading edge, robust and Media client focused propositions that will employ best practice design and provide operational excellence
  • Ensure wherever possible, the design and delivery of solutions integrates seamlessly with existing process and practices, and does not impact on current operations

  • Knowledge of Cloud Database export
  • Knowledge of data flows and api’s
  • Experience of digital media data (DFP, DMB, DMP, Adobe Omniture, GA)
  • SQL knowledge and experience
  • Experience of SalesForce, MSG and Operative 1 would be an advantage
  • Experience of working within a fast-paced environment
  • Excellent written skills with the ability to produce specifications including data requirements, business process flows, user interface changes, use cases and 3rd party package specifications
  • Strong inter-personal skills and stakeholder management
  • The ability to use initiative, work as part of a team and balance the wider business objectives with personal ones
