The Content Solutions team at The Economist Group develops and executes bespoke content-driven programmes that solve our clients’ marketing challenges in an innovative way using the full range of The Economist Group’s resources including advertising, social media and events. 


The Content Solutions team seeks a Senior Marketing Manager to develop and execute amplification strategies for our programmes. We are looking for a highly strategic individual who thinks outside the box and is comfortable working in cross-functional teams. You will work closely with the content editorial, sales and digital teams in a global unit.




 In this role you would be expected to:

  • Create, develop and execute original and effective amplification programmes to ensure that our content has maximum impact
  • Manage digital marketing mediums (email marketing, paid search, SEO/SEM, display/banner ads, social media)
  • Develop and implement social media campaigns appropriate to the target market, promoting through a variety of social channels as well as relevant blogs, forums and online communities
  • Support paid social media activities via our global social channels, using third-party campaign management tools
  • Continually monitor social media trends and make recommendations to enhance our social media presence
  • Work closely with different departments within the group on integrated projects and to cross-promote thought leadership projects
  • Analyse and report on results. Reviewing and improving activity will be key to maximising digital and online potential
  • Provide timely and regular reporting that summarizes website and campaign performance
  • Meet or exceed clients' marketing objectives and KPIs
  • Act as project manager on occasion

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in this role you must have:

  • Proven digital marketing experience, preferably in a media environment and/or in a professional services marketing and B2B environment
  • Previous experience within a content marketing environment
  • A bachelor’s degree or higher in a relevant discipline
  • 7 or more years of work experience
  • Some previous experience of working in a client-facing role, including making presentations to clients
  • In-depth knowledge and understanding of social media platforms
  • Robust knowledge of SEM (PPC and SEO)
  • A high level of competency using Microsoft Excel to create reports, analyse data and present findings in a clear and informative way
  • Knowledge of lead management, CRM and data-led marketing (preferably using Salesforce and Eloqua)
  • Knowledge of analytics systems eg Google Analytics or alternative social media monitoring tools
  • Ability to work under tight time constraints, managing multiple projects simultaneously
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively
  • Strong communication and project management skills
  • Keen interest in current affairs
  • A “can-do” attitude
  • Fluency in Mandarin an advantage
