The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) sets the global standard for providing strategic analysis in matters of public policy for governments, NGOs, companies and international institutions in more than 200 countries. EIU’s expertise in country analysis, macroeconomic principles and forecasting methodologies has provided decision makers with critical information since 1946.


Currently we are seeking a Consulting Analyst for EIU Consulting’s Public Policy, Economics and Politics (PPEP) unit in Dubai.  The Consulting Analyst will work with the Regional Director and the rest of the consulting team to support project work and grow our business across the Europe, Middle East and Africa region.  


The Consulting Analyst will participate in projects for corporate, government and multi-lateral clients with a focus on public policy and corporate strategy – insights, analytics, capacity and impact.  This work requires research, data and information gathering, but also builds on EIU’s core expertise in macroeconomics and political economy work. The PPEP team’s project work and client deliverables include benchmarking studies/indices, strategy consulting, policy analysis, scenario planning, political and economic analysis, risk assessment, and socio-economic modelling and forecasting.


In the role you would be expected to: 

  • Participate in projects that:
    • Advise international corporations on business implications of macroeconomic, policy, and regulatory changes or scenarios
    • Support governments, development banks, international institutions, and organizations in policy research and strategy design
  • Conduct evidence-based assessments and quantitative and qualitative analysis
  • Lead research inputs and reports development for client projects based on the project plan and working with the project delivery team
  • Engage in project research, data collection, analysis and preparation of presentations
  • Support senior consulting colleagues in preparing scoping documents and proposals for potential clients
  • Deliver PPEP projects to strict deadlines and within budget, ensuring achievement of agreed revenue and contribution targets for own projects

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:

  • Relevant degree in Business, Economics, International Relations
  • 2-3 years of work experience in top strategy or research consulting companies
  • Experience with public policy, economic development and political analysis
  • Good understanding of international business, industry and geopolitical issues
  • An ability to work effectively, unsupervised, or with teams to meet project objectives, sometimes working with a combination of internal staff and external contributors
  • Excellent English, fluency in Arabic is a plus
  • Comfort with regional travel
  • Strong Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Project skills
