The Economist is one of the world’s most influential publications and a leading source of analysis on international business and world affairs. It recently launched the Global Business Review (GBR), a bilingual app aimed at Chinese speakers offering business, finance and technology content. It is the first non-English language product in its 173 years history.

 

The Social Media Marketing Executive, Global Business Review will report to the Social Media Manager and the Marketing Manager, Global Business Review and will be based in Shanghai, China. The role will support the opreation of GBR’s Online Readers’ Community, helping GBR’s subscribers to enjoy better added value services, and generating more conversations among the GBR’s WeChat group.

Accountabilities

In the role you would be expected to:

  • Work with GBR social media manger and marketing manager to maintain GBR’s Online Readers Community, responding quickly and effectively to the requests of the subscribers
  • Growing high quality talks within GBR’s WeChat groups, helping the Editor of GBR to further expand new topics, making sure the talks are active and useful for the subscribers
  • Work closely with the marketing team to monitor and engage with Weibo/WeChat questions and comments
  • Measure and report weekly on social media’s key data (including wechat group and Online Readers Community) , analyzing the trend and suggesting and provide positive advices for further improvement

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:

  • Passionate for social media and embrace for new trends in digital marketing
  • Demonstrate a deep understanding of social media platforms, including WeChat, WeChat group, Weibo, stay up-to-date on emerging social platforms
  • Sensitive to data and can read into data for further developments
  • Strong writing abilities
  • Customer oriented attitudes towards work and is a good communicator in social media environment
  • Good team player and coordinator, abilities to work on multi tasks
  • Well organized and disciplined, paying attention to details
  • Video/audio editing skills a plus (PS, AI, FinalCut, Premiere etc.)
