The Economist Intelligence Unit (EIU) is a leading provider of country, industry and public policy analysis. As the research and consulting arm of The Economist Group, we deliver information that helps organizations to understand major developments in business affairs, governmental policy and development economics.


The Public Policy, Economics and Politics practice within EIU is recruiting for a Research Analyst who can specialise in tender management and work within an internationally-focused and diverse team. The successful candidate will oversee a Knowledge Management System that will be used to support tender processing. He/she will also, from time to time, support our consulting projects and deliver bespoke research with a strong public policy element.


In the role you would be expected to:

  • Define what documents and other materials should be developed and/or collated to update the Knowledge Management System
  • Determine the best process to update each type of material and maintain a system for updating the material
  • Refine the framework for knowledge management on Google Drive. This will include a folder structure, document tracking structure, document naming conventions, tags, etc.
  • Develop processes for each type of document/folder to be kept current. This will include a process and timeframe for updating key collateral (e.g. 1x per year for bios), the process for uploading proposals, etc.
  • Develop and present training on the Knowledge Management System for staff
  • Develop metrics/tracking system for EIU stakeholders to understand our win rates on tenders, key learnings, steps to improve, etc
  • Develop a system for identifying and analyzing tenders globally
  • Put together research solutions in response to tender requirements

      As needed, and from time to time:

    • Work with senior staff and project managers as a Research Analyst to deliver PPEP projects in such areas as policy analysis, scenario planning, political and economic analysis, and risk assessments                     

Experience, skills and professional attributes

To succeed in the role you must have:

  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent)  (a Business Administration degree would be a plus)
  • Previous experience working in a corporate environment on business processes
  • Effective project and time management skills
  • Excellent verbal, written communication, leadership and interpersonal skills


You will be able to demonstrate:

  • The ability to clearly communicate to senior stakeholders and staff and encourage action on project tasks
  • Proactively identify needs and solutions; proactively follow up with key individuals as needed on project tasks
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint), as well as Google Docs is a must
  • The ability to multi-task and prioritize in a fast-paced environment
